.
Participate in the Marlborough/Summerhill Walking Tour

Derek Boles and Ed Freeman will be leading a Heritage Toronto walking tour through this area in Toronto with its rich railway history. Click here for more information
.
Visit the Richmond Hill Live Steamers

The Richmond Hill Live Steamers hold two Open Houses each year for the public at their track in their beautiful woods in Richmond Hill on Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 . Click here for more information on how to get there. Their track was featured in an earlier post here.
.
Visit the Hamilton-based Golden Horseshoe Live Steamers
.
The Golden Horseshoe Live Steamers will be holding their monthly public run days on Sunday, September 12th from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Click here for more information. Their track has been featured in our posting here. The museum itself features a spectacular old steam driven walking beam engine which is a sight to see in motion. They are located close to the QEW.
.
Visit the Fort Erie-based Niagara Railway Museum
.
The Niagara Railway Museum open house is this Saturday & Sunday, Sept 11 & 12 from 9 am to 4 pm. Their 3 locomotives will be on display and open for inspection inside the shop, along with railway artifacts, photographs, the Ontario Northland Historical Society, Southern Niagara Model Railroad Club HO layout, Niagara Railway Museum HO layout, track motorcar rides outside, and the Fort Erie Lafrance Museum fire trucks (weather permitting). You can also see part of the turntable pit which has been unearthed for the first time since the early 90's, and where the former roundhouse was situated. The shop is located at 21 Warren St in Fort Erie (From Toronto, take the QEW to Gilmore Rd, left on Gilmore, left on Russell and then left on Warren.). They are located close to the QEW. For more information about the museum, click here. Their new facility was featured in an earlier posting here.
.
Visit the Toy and Train Show in the Buffalo (N.Y.) Central Terminal
.
Once a year, the group leading the charge in the restoration of this terminal (see Derek Boles's recent article here) host a Toy and Train Show in the terminal itself. It will be held on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults with free admission for children under the age of 12. All proceeds from the show benefit the stabilization and restoration of Buffalo Central Terminal. They are just beyond the end of the QEW across the Peace Bridge and a few minutes further. For more information, visit their website here.
.
Admission Fees
.
Except as noted, museum and miniature railway admissions are free with donations being encouraged. The Buffalo Train shows charges admission as noted above and the Toronto Railway Heritage Centre charges only for miniature train rides.
.
The Grand Tour Opportunity
.
There is an opportunity here for Toronto area railfans to start early on Sunday and visit the Golden Horseshoe Live Steamers, the Niagara Railway Museum and the Buffalo Central Terminal Train Show within their hours of operation if you time it well as they are all close to the QEW.
