Field Trip: Montreal Live Steamers - Les Cedres, Quebec

Click on the video to watch it!

The Montreal Live Steamers are a private club formed in 1934 for builders of scale steam locomotives. It has grown into a non-profit corporation that owns property in Les Cèdres, Quebec where they have developed tracks in 3½-in, 4¾-in & 7¼-in gauge. Every year, they  host a meet on the July 1st weekend when they welcome other miniature railway enthusiasts to join them and bring their own engines and trains if they wish.

This year, Michael Guy took the "Romulus" class "Lesley" steam engine to Montreal to participate in this event. In the movie above, we see Lesley and Matt Jeffery's #3014 operating at the event. Both are coal-fired real steam locomotives and are based on 2-foot gauge prototypes.

Visit the Montreal Live Steamers website by clicking here and watch other movies about their operation as well as slide shows.
