Mid Week Report - Diesel Cabs, Track Realignment and Water Tanks!

Click on each image for a closer look!
.
Volunteers continued to come to the Roundhouse during the week to tackle various tasks. In the image at the above left we see a team proudly showing off a window frame which had been separated from sheet metal which had been part of the diesel cab body to which it had been attached. This required hours of grinding to remove the welds making the achievement that much more gratifying. The long boards at the back of the F7 cab (above middle) are being used to try out various angles for wooden steps that are to be built to allow easy access into the cab. In the next picture we see a team reworking a stretch of track connecting the mainline miniature railway track to the wye leading to the depot in order to ease the radius of the curve even further.
.
Below, we find the miniature railway water tower being finished with a stainless steel barrel being used as the actual container for the water needed by our steam locomotives. Finally, we have a shot in the evening light of our caboose at rest in the roundhouse.
