Grey Cup weekend report: #3's last run of the season!

Click on each image for a closer look!

The October 24th weekend featured two national football events at the Rogers Centre - the Vanier Cup on Friday and the Grey Cup on Saturday.  While a number  of volunteers worked on projects in the Roundhouse, another group operated the miniature railway carrying both visitors and football fans around Roundhouse Park.

This will be the last weekend we will operate the Sweet Creek #3 steam locomotive as it has been "blown done" and now been put away for the winter.  Blowing down involves releasing the steam in the boiler through the bottom of the boiler through valves below the firebox used for this purpose.  The rapidly exhausting steam blows out any deposits which accumulate at the bottom of the boiler.

Depending on the weather and availability of volunteers, the CLC Whitcomb locomotive may be used to operate the miniature railway on upcoming weekends.
