Tackling track maintenance on the miniature railway

After many years of heavy service and a successful summer season where our rider traffic doubled from the previous year, we are now taking advantage of cool fall weather to aggressively address ongoing maintenance of our track system.  In the photo above, we find Carlton and Dave working with Michael Guy to replace wooden ties that have stood up well over time but are near the end of their working lives.  Most of our rail is embedded in concrete but there are still many wooden ties as well to be checked and replaced.
