Field Report: 1954 CN Passenger Car becomes a library in Hamilton!

Recently, a CN passenger car was rebuilt to serve as a library in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The goal was to improve low literacy rates in the north end of the "Keith" neighbourhood  “Every child deserves an even chance to be educated,” said local builder Jeff Paikin, son of the library’s namesake whose family supported the project.

The 1954 passenger car has been divided into two sections. The old seats have been removed and the car has air conditioning and heating.  At one end is a plush lounge featuring comfy chairs and dark colours. The larger section has one wall completely lined with books.
