Our earliest image of our CNR 4-8-4 #6213

Recently I purchased a photo of 6213 that I had never seen before. According to the vendor, the photo was taken in 1944 in Toronto although there isn’t enough detail to indicate where in Toronto. This would make it the earliest photo I’ve seen of the locomotive, taken just two years after it was out-shopped at the Montreal Locomotive Works. It’s also the only photo I’ve seen of it in service with the elephant ears or smoke deflectors. The deflectors were removed at some point and the ones currently on the engine were added in 1984 when it was on display at the Exhibition Grounds.
