Railways worth the trip: The Durango and Silverton

The narrow gauge tourist railways of Colorado in the USA are famed for the fabulous scenery.  Many consider the Durango and Silverton Railway journey one of the top 10 most spectacular railway journeys on earth.

The half hour documentary (below) hosted by David Holt and produced and directed by Robert Van Camp was featured on PBS's Great Scenic Railway Journeys Series. It presents the history of the railway that has now become the Durango and Silverton tourist railway.  The video also does justice to presenting the fabulous scenery on the route and the experience of riding the train

The video is in high definition and very professionally produced.  It is well worth watching and the railway should be on everyone's bucket list to visit.

Watch carefully and you can see tires being change on a steam locomotive!
