Acquisition: display cases

The Toronto Railway Museum has recently acquired six new (to us) display cases. These were previously owned by the Bata Shoe Museum, which had advertised them on the Ontario Museum Association website as surplus to their needs and free to a good home. We jumped at the opportunity to get them for our museum.

Staff from our next-door neighbour Leon's helped museum manager Bob Dickson to pick up the cases on January 6th. These are professionally-made, purpose-built for museum display and have locking plexiglass tops. They are very useful for exhibiting smaller, lighter-weight artifacts.

Two are currently in our exhibit space in roundhouse stall 17, holding a pair of large-scale 3.5 inch gauge model steam locomotives donated to the museum in 2015. The other four are temporarily in storage while we determine the best use for them.
